In today’s economic climate. It is essential that all businesses take advantage of advertising and marketing online. Even if they solely provide their services and products via bricks and mortar store-front location. There are many different areas that you can develop your advertising potential online. I hope this guide will be of some benefit to the smaller local businesses. In any town or city.
As with any business or niche, you will have particular keywords associated with you and your business. You need to focus on these keywords when developing your advertising efforts on line. By developing a strong content in any articles that you publish or blogs that you write. That includes these particular keywords for your business. You will be drawing the attention of all the search engines, and the people search, these engines for a product or service. Let me Give you an example.
A friend of mine is about to launch a coffee bar. That includes art studios and gallery space. In these areas of business, there are a wealth of keywords and phrases that can be associated with the business. By the use of tools that are easily found on the web (You can use Google Tools), you can develop these keywords and build your content that will focus on a particular area, by writing an article in your blog about each separate area that the business is broken into. Its relevant, departments.
- Coffee Bar.
- Art Gallery
- Artists Studios
Okay, now let’s look at the keywords that are related to the Coffee Bar
- Coffee bar.
- Coffee shop
- Coffee Emporium

This gives you an example of the types of keywords that can be used in this particular areas, it is not a complete list is just a guideline. Obviously, you would need to do a lot of research into your particular niche within your business to see what keywords best describes accurately, what product or service you want to promote.
By using these groups of keywords. You can create content for both your website and for your blog relating to your business. The content on your blog should be regularly updated. I would recommend to establish the blog post every day to the first month or two. This can be reduced down to two posts a week as the blog develops, but definitely keep everybody up to date with any latest promotions, offers, & new developments in products or services.
Keep the content of the blog on a more personal level, it is not meant to be a full resume of the business is just an insight into what is coming up in the future or what is relevant at the moment as far as special offers sales etc..
When you are creating your blog. You have to take into consideration, your main word’s to your business. It could be the business name, or it could be the product name.
If you already have your own domain link to your business. Let’s presume it is the actual name of the business as in this example http://thedeafcat.com or you could use one of the other prefixes like
.co.uk
.net
.biz
there are many others to choose from.
You would then include a URL specifically dedicated to the blog. For instance http://thedeafcat.com/blog
or
http://blog.thedeafcat.com
I have more information on how you create these two different extensions to young main domain coming in later articles. So look out for them.
Another thing to remember is that once you have your blog created you need to look at the subheading of the blog this can go into a little bit more detail on the keywords surrounding the business. Choose three or four of the main keywords in this instance it would be
This would form a subheading like this
Coffee Bar | Art Studio | Art Gallery
New post to the blog should be laid out as follows
- The URL should include the specific keywords for that particular post. Always make sure that you limit the number of keywords for each post to three to four. So the content stays relevant to the subject. On top of this you would use the business name as a keyword also.
- You should use the keywords throughout the content of that particular post. A least four or five times throughout the post to, each one.
- Each of those keywords should be typed in bold. And if necessary italicised
Whenever the business is mentioned within the blog post hyper-link it back to the relevant product or service within your domain. For instance, if you’re talking about the coffee shop. Then link it to the main page that shows that information to the coffee shop. And so on. Also if you are mentioning other businesses that are relevant to yours but not actually your own business, out of politeness. Please make sure that you asked permission to use any relevant content that you have taken from them, either text or graphics. Most people don’t mind this, as long as you put a hyper-link back to their site. This is what is known as `back linking‘.
Any graphics to use on your website make sure that they are saved on your computer first and then upload it either directly to the domain or somewhere like Flicker, and that the name files for these graphics are relevant keywords field for your business .
At this point I would like to thank Laura Brown & Kevan Middleton, from http://thedeafcat.com in using Their business as an example on how creating a blog for business can be it a simple task.
Take care because I care.
